Lately, I have been thinking a lot about AI and the future…
AI is here. It has taken over. Every industry is changing, evolving, we are going digital, working remote, outsourcing. We have everything at our fingertips.
Anyone can make money online if they figure out the algorithms. The formula. That secret formula that those pops up try to sell you. The internet knows what you want, ads are targeted. Everything in today’s world is targeted.
The videos you see on YouTube. The social media posts. The people that pop up on your dating app. Everything is designed to keep you scrolling. Everyone is competing for your attention. But what does this mean for the field of psychology and for human interactions?
Virtual therapy is the new norm. Not to mention the increase in mental health apps. Now a days you can manage symptoms of anxiety and depression on your phone. It does not replace seeing an actual therapist, but it is a cheaper alternative, and most people cannot even afford therapy.
Soon, this will become the norm. You will download an app that will tell you what to do, how to improve your mental health. Those suffering from more serious mental health and cognitive issues will still need to have professional care but the way people seek help is changing.
With the rapid changes going on in our world today the psychology field needs to keep up with today’s innovations and come together to make mental health services accessible to those who need it the most.
